2023, March 16 --Launch
of the HS-17A with modified airframe

The HS-17A can be clearly distinguished from the HS-17 by its
external features.

2022, November 08 -- North Korea has successful
launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the Sunan area
near Pyongyang.
There is now photos of the launch. They shows a changed HS-17.The modifications
affect both stages of the missile.. The first stage was shortened by about
1.5 m and the second stage was lengthened by 1.5 m. The missile is called
HS-17A here. Why was changed the HS-17. One reason may be that the
HS-17 is unsuitable*
as an ICBM and really only corresponds to the first stage of a future Unha-X
(SLV) and the HS-17A is optimized as an really ICBM.
* The HS-17 first
stage is oversized in length for four combustors. As the first stage of the
Unha-X, it will have six combustors.
